So you’ve made your way to the big apple and you’re ready to go explore and live the life as a New Yorker. If you’re like me you’ve been waiting anxiously to go back, but once you arrived you realized you never brought your vaccine card, which as of the mandate started on August 26, 2021 is as good as being unvaccinated in NYC.
While you may not be able to hit a lot of big ticket items like the MoMA or MET, you can still enjoy many great things NYC has to offer.
9/11 Memorial
This really is a sight to see, the beautiful memorial has the names of everyone who passed on the tragic day engraved on it, with breathtaking views of the fountains as well. There is an actual museum where you can learn more about what happened that day, but proof of vaccine is required to enter. The memorial is free and open all 7 days to the public.
The MET steps
If you are an original Gossip Girl lover like me the MET steps hold even more importance than the MET itself. The iconic steps where Blair and her friends ate are open, the quite opposite of the show, for everyone to sit and enjoy.
Boat Tour
If there is one activity you attempt from this list it should be a boat tour. The company we rode with was ManhattanbySail and it was a sunset sail taking us to the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and giving a great view of the NYC skyline.
Brooklyn Bridge
This is one of the stops my friends and I never made on our day trip to NYC, we can blame that on the confusing subway that fills this city. But if you get the chance it’s a great place to stop for pictures.
Picnic in Central Park
This is the simplest and easiest thing to do on the list. You can just grab a quick meal and bring it to the park or just sit there and watch the scenery. It’s a literal breath of fresh air in the midst of a concrete jungle.
NYC Pizza
The chances of finding a place that will seat you without proof of vaccine is unlikely, but there are several places where you can grab and fresh hot slice of NY Pizza and eat it an outdoor seating area.
Street performers in Times Square
Once night time hits there’s no place to be other than Times Square. It’s full of so much life and there’s always something happening to keep you entertained.
