Are you new here? Don't worry, I am too. Up until 2020 I had never heard of Glossier and with their limited locations and quick selling stock I was never able to get my hands on a item to try. That was until I was on Melrose Avenue last week in their store, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the brand.
Their marketing is genius, you walk into the store and are immediately transported into a pink space age utopia. Full of reflective surfaces, bright lighting, and smooth curves, they've made it an entire experience outside of just shopping their products. Not only to do they create a memorable experience in store, but it is hard to ignore the cult following they've amassed between Gen-Z and Millenials online. The rise of the 'It Girl' aesthetic in 2020 gave room to the growth of clean and natural beauty, and quickly led to TikTok being full of Glossier hauls and reviews. Not only are people obsessed with their makeup, but the Glossier 'You' scent has been climbing as the number one perfume. The brand has even gone as far to offer the scent in candles, lotion, deodorants and rollerballs.
While in Los Angeles I got the Ultralip in the shade 'Cachet' , and so far it is the lip product I reach for most. The natural plum color offers the appearance of a healthy glow and hydrates the lips without any sticky residue.
In terms of natural makeup I was highly impressed with the formulas of many of their products and the uniformity in shades being offered. The Glossier 'You' scent wasn't a favorite of mine, but this could be in part due to the new formula that was just dropped while I was in store. Overall this experience didn't heavily sway me, but if you are a 'no-makeup' makeup kind of person, or someone looking for natural vegan makeup they are a great mid-price range option.
Is this not the best Glossier review of 2023? Let me know in the comments!
